Chiropractic
What is a chiropractor?
Doctor’s of chiropractic undergo a five year masters degree qualifying them to carry out a full medical consultation and examination including x-rays, blood analysis, orthopaedic and biomechanical tests. This thorough assessment aids your chiropractor to make a working diagnosis for your case.
Chiropractors recognise that the relationship between our spinal alignment and the function of our nervous system can effect the preservation and restoration of health. By improving the spine and musculoskeletal system chiropractors play a part in relieving the pain associated with many disorders listed below.
There is a common misconception that chiropractors only work with the spine correcting neck and low back pain. Although it is common for chiropractors to work on the spine our training involves much study on peripheral joints, such as the hip, elbow, knee, shoulder or ankle. Our primary goal is to restore function in these areas, resolving pain and keeping you supple.
What are the benefits of chiropractic?
Aids pain management – Chiropractic care is effective for pain relief for those suffering from moderate to severe pain.
Increases mobility – After events such as accidents, mobility may be reduced. Chiropractic care can help an individual regain their mobility whilst strengthening their muscles and relieving pain. Chiropractors can advise on specific exercises to help recovery and regain movement.
Avoid drug side effects – Chiropractic is a practice that revolves around medicine-free treatment and no drugs are administered, which means that there will be no potential adverse drug reactions.
What is a chiropractic adjustment?
Unique to chiropractic care is the chiropractic adjustment. Otherwise known as spinal manipulation, chiropractors are trained to specifically adjust the spine and or extremities by applying focused and localised pressure to specific joints. This restores motion to restricted joints and reduces nerve irritation allowing the body in time to heal itself more effectively.
At Core Wellness Centres your chiropractic visits will be performed clothed. We ask you to remove any belts or heavy outer layers. After your adjustment you will be directed to lay down and use our intersegmental roller tables (10 minute spinal massage).
Our chiropractors use a combination of adjustment techniques allowing us to match the need of the individual. Our goal is to correct spinal misalignment in the most gentle way possible.
Who can see a chiropractor?
Spinal adjustments are safe and effective for all age groups, and we take care of babies right through to the elderly. We often will see sporting athletes on a performance and prevention basis.
