In order to achieve the best results at Core Wellness its paramount that we include soft tissue therapy. Massage can be utilised for health in so many ways. Whether its recovering from pain or optimising wellness. Every individual’s body is different which is why we offer a multitude of massage techniques to suit the preference and need of the individual. At Core Wellness Centres our massage therapists are qualified in sports massage, deep tissue massage, therapeutic massage, lymphatic drainage, swedish massage and relaxation massage. From gentle pampering to treatments that work deep in the muscle tissue, there’s something for everyone.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Deep tissue massage involves a customised pressure to trigger points and tender areas within the muscle. Deep tissue massage techniques are used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle "knots" or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limiting range of motion, and creatinginflammation. At the beginning of a deep tissue massage, lighter pressure is generally applied to warm up and prepare the muscles. Specific techniques are then applied. Common techniques include:

  • Stripping: Deep, gliding pressure is applied along the length of the muscle fibers using the elbow, forearm, knuckles, and thumbs.

  • Friction: Pressure is applied across the grain of a muscle to release adhesions and realign tissue fibers.

Massage therapists may use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms during a deep tissue massage. You may be asked to breathe deeply as the massage therapist works on tense areas.

Sports Massage

All of us at some point in life struggle with muscular tension and discomfort. Sports massage is very effective at reducing muscular pain and dysfunction. It is not exclusive to those taking part in regular activity. Whether its poor posture at an office desk, injury, or repetitive activities - sports massage is very effective at providing relaxation and relief to those tired injured muscles. For those coming back to exercise or even regular athletes it becomes a vital part of your training regimes allowing you to decrease recovery time between exercise sessions and minimising injury.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage helps reduce pregnancy body aches, reduces stress and eases muscle tension. Prenatal massage utilises mild pressure similar to Swedish massage. Our therapists will focus on areas under pressure such as your lower back, hips and legs. You can be fully or partially undressed depending on your comfort level.
